The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) has recently hosted the Workshop “Statistical Methods for Omics Data Integration and Analysis” (SMODIA) 2014.

The Workshop aimed to bring together researchers in the fields of biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, biostatistics, machine learning, data mining, and pattern recognition that work on the analysis of omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, metabolomics, genomics) and particularly researchers that focus on developing new methods of integrating data, integrating their visualization, and integrating analysis of multiple and heterogeneous datasets.

More than sixty researchers from Europe and America participated to the initiative, contributing in creating an event fostering tens of high profile scientific talks.

The site of the event is available online (http://smodia2014.com/), along with the final program: https://smodia.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/smodia2014-program1.pdf

The success of the initiative ignited the preparation of the next Smodia event, to be held in Valencia, Spain, September 14-16, 2015 http://smodia2015.cipf.es/
